That would be unfair.

The 2026/27 campaign comes after an unusual summer, with squads affected by international commitments and players still adjusting to new teams and managers. Several clubs are also undergoing major changes.

Manchester United can recover.

Tottenham can improve.

Liverpool can become more comfortable under Iraola.

And teams such as Hull and Brighton will eventually face difficult periods.

At the same time, opening weekends matter because they reveal early trends.

Hull showed that they can compete physically and tactically. Brentford demonstrated how dangerous they can be when given space. Brighton showed serious attacking potential. Arsenal looked like champions should look.

Meanwhile, Manchester United, Tottenham and Liverpool have already been given areas to work on.
